Product Description
This test identifies the presence of Escherichia coli O157 in food, beverage, sponge, or swab samples. E. coli O157 is a harmful strain of bacteria capable of causing serious foodborne illness in humans. Unlike most E. coli strains, which are generally harmless, E. coli O157 produces Shiga toxin, which can result in severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, and, in some cases, kidney failure. It is most often linked to contaminated foods, such as undercooked beef, unpasteurized milk, and raw vegetables.
